Kamila Camilleri odnlazła "Dolce Vita"

A Polish-born author and Maltese resident, Kamila Camilleri, has turned her personal journey and reflections on modern life into a new book, “Dolce Vita – The Art of Sweet Living.”

What began as a summer move to learn English and soak up the sun transformed into a permanent home for the author, who met her husband in Malta and has now lived on the islands for over nine years, recently settling in Gozo.

Adjusting to life in Malta wasn’t without its challenges. “Making Malta home wasn’t easy at first,” she admits. “I missed my family, friends, and pierogis! Cultural differences also took some getting used to. But the warmth and friendliness of the Maltese people helped me settle, and now I proudly call Malta home.”

Dolce Vita emerged from her own experiences with burnout and the pressures of living in a world dominated by constant connectivity and productivity.

Drawing on years of working with international clients, traveling frequently, and juggling deadlines, she wanted to create a book that balances reflection with enjoyment. “It’s light enough to savor in a quiet moment, yet deep enough to provoke thought about life, stress, and the pace we live at,” she says.

The book explores real-life themes such as moving to a new country, starting a family, navigating womanhood, managing business, and the hidden pressures many women carry. Its tone is approachable and comforting, akin to a late-night conversation with a friend, interspersed with stories, myths, short poems, and personal reflections.

Each section of Dolce Vita is accompanied by illustrations and photography of Malta, highlighting local culture, food, and landmarks- from ġbejniet and minestra to Ta’ Pinu and bougainvillea- blending self-discovery with a celebration of island life.

The author hopes readers will take away a simple yet powerful message: life unfolds at its own pace, and beauty exists even amidst stress. “We are not late- we are still becoming,” she says. Dolce Vita encourages slowing down, embracing mindfulness, and finding joy in everyday moments.

To celebrate the launch in mid-December, the author is hosting a ladies-only event featuring talks on mindful eating and social responsibility, with part of the proceeds supporting the Women for Women Foundation. Local brands and wellness experts will also contribute to the festivities, which will include a special tea bar and other surprises.

Looking ahead, she dreams of creating a Dolce Vita Club- a space for people to connect without the pressures of technology, focusing on real conversations and celebrating life’s small joys.
