However, on 5th September 1964, 21-year-old woman Christine Adams was sunning herself in Bajja San Ġorġ.

She was seen by two Police officials who felt she was indecently dressed.

Three weeks later, Adams was arraigned in Court and charged with indecency. She admitted to wearing a bikini but denied being indecent. The Court did not find her guilty.
