netTheare i 24-h przedstawienie w podziemiach Vallety - Aleksandra Konarska

Nourished by the black milk of Tadeusz Kantor’s theatre, we descend into the shelter of Valletta’s underground, where the walls conceal the memories of 40,000 people who once hid from bombing. Following in the footsteps of Miron Białoszewski in Warsaw—the most bombed city in Europe during World War II—we attempt to design a theatre on the ruins, a shelter theatre.

You are welcome to attend the 24-hour performance anytime between 4:30pm on Thursday, 7th November, and 4:30pm on Friday. Please note that the venue is not accessible to individuals with disabilities.

Facing an impending climate catastrophe in confinement, separated from the world that will soon end, we will prototype a theatre in its most sustainable version, striving for the best possible ratio of resource consumption to the density of the creative act. This project will involve a 24-hour continuous theatrical act, created live by the director and the set designer, in isolation, without actors, script, or stage. Crafted on a single table from objects fitting into a single suitcase, we will practice reduction and measure our consumption.
Similar to Abraham Abulafia on the island of Comino, we will seek to permute elementary particles, looking hopefully at what will emerge. Our goal is to design a theatre for times of crisis, in conjunction with the shelters of Kyiv and Mariupol today, as well as Valletta and Warsaw in the past, to be prepared for future challenges.
