Polskie nazwiska są dość mocno wyróżniające się - szczególnie na Malcie nie mające w brzmieniu nic podobnego.Od czasu do czasu natrafiam na prawdopodobnych Polaków z terenów zaborów co trafili na Maltę w wyniku wojennych zawieruch ..

I tak na przykład cmentarz nie katolicki Ta Braxia ma wśród kwater Anglików, Hidusów a także Rosjan co uciekli w czasie rewolucji na Maltę : szambelan cara i założycielka baletu.

W śród nazwisk widzę Friedrych Wieczorek urodzony w Kranzendorf Prusy Wschodnie - na mapie z 1905 roku jest Krnaz a dorf to wioska po niemiecku.

There is some fragmented information about PoWs at Malta who returned to Poland, although I have not found any details from the ICRC records. The Malta National Archives records the departure of 17 former PoWs to Poland on 13.12.19 on board Italian ship Sri Samud. I have attached a copy of the Custom House record, but unfortunately no names are mentioned. However, I believe that three were Czibulka, Joseph; Meyer, Julius Gerhard; and Wild, Jacob, as they were recorded earlier in Dec.1919 as Poles. Other possible departures on Sri Samud were Knasiak, Josef; Zierold, Werner; and Zwatzki, Heinrich, as they all have home addresses in Poland and no other departure details. You can find all six in the ICRC records (five are listed as German and one (Czibulka) as Austro-Hungarian). I would be keen to find details of any others.
